Italian cycling afficionados have not been able to "Save the Vigorelli." . Comune di Milano has decided to close down the Velodromo along with it's 60-year-old Masi Vigorelli Shop later in 2009. The velodrome opened in 1935 and Giuseppe Olmo, Fausto Coppi, Antonio Maspes, Jacques Anquetil, Roger Riviere, Ercol Baldini among others have raced on its 333 m boards.
